Who is Kate Northrup?
Now that I’ve learned how to hold a full life lightly and allow myself to be held in the process—two best-selling books, a globally distributed planner system, a 7-figure company serving tens of thousands of customers, two young children, and a workweek of less than 40 hours per week all at once—I can say that my life is more manageable than it ever has been.
I used to pack as much as possible into each day, convinced that if I did so, I would finally feel in control of my life and be able to realize my goals for success.
In reality, however, I was a nervous, medication-resistant stress ball who had trouble relaxing and sleeping.
I was completely and utterly transformed by becoming a mother, and yet, in that first year as a parent (despite postpartum anxiety and insomnia, a sick baby who wouldn’t sleep, and only 10 hours of childcare a week), we were able to generate the same amount of revenue in our business while putting in only half the time we had before.
My epiphany that I needed to figure out what we’d done differently and how we could not only repeat those results (minus the incredible stress of new parenthood) but also codify it as a system that others could follow was when the Do Less methodology took shape, and I’ve been preaching its virtues ever since.
